December 2, 2009 Housing Update
To: Kitsumkalum First Nation Members
The need for more housing is always on the rise. Kitsumkalum Band Council will alleviate some the stresses that come along with lack of accommodations and overcrowding by applying for more social housing programs and developing sites for individual loan homes.
Application forms for housing are available at Kitsumkalum Band Council Office. We have an old Housing wait list, but the information needs to be updated for the Housing Department.
The Property/housing Manager is available to assist you in determining what type of housing is best suited for your needs. The types of housing available are: Individual Loan homes; new social housing and now, Band Guaranteed loan homes through a Bank.

18 New Houses to be Built
18 New Houses are being built in a new sub division in Kitsumkalum. In the following year another 18 houses will also be built, totalling 36 new houses.
The site lot preperation for the first 18 houses has been completed Fall/Winter 2009. Construction for the new houses will start in the new fiscal year, Spring 2010.
There are 3 housing types that Band Members may be eligable for:
- Individual Loan Homes
- New Social Housing Homes
- Band Guaranteed Loan Homes through a Bank
Band members are encourageed to meet with the new housing property manager to verify your current information, especially if you have previously signed up and are on the housing waitlist.
