Silviculture As a forest licensee, KVL has obligations to conduct stocking surveys, plant ability surveys and free to grow surveys two years after harvesting. Each block is assessed to determine if the blocks need to be restocked and to keep an eye on the brush. KVL is responsible for restocking harvested blocks between 3-6 years. The stocking survey will determine if any fill planting is required, and to determine that the new stand coming up is similar to the stand that was previously harvested. Once the block is restocked KVL will continue to monitor the progress of the regen. While KVL is monitoring the growth of the new trees, they are watching for other pests. Once the new stand has reached a height of 150% of surrounding vegetation it can be considered free to grow for 8-14 years. Once KVL has met these requirements the block is officially complete. | ||||||||
